the following topics: Artificial Intelligence Algorithms; Artificial Neural Networks;
Bioinformatics; Data Mining; Evolutionary Computations; Expert Systems; Fuzzy Logic; Genetic
Algorithms; Hardware Implementations for Intelligent Systems; Human-Computer Interaction;
Intelligent Agents; Intelligent Applications in Biomedical Engineering; Intelligent
Approaches in Robotic and Automation; Intelligent Approaches in Signal and Image Processing;
Intelligent Approaches in System; Identification/Modeling; Intelligent Control Systems;
Intelligent Defense/Security Systems; Intelligent Life; Machine Learning; Memetic Computing;
Natural Language Processing; Particle Swarms; Smart Sensors and Materials; Intelligent Systems.

Proposals of special sessions and tutorials on hot and emerging topics in the field of the
symposium are welcome.
The language of the symposium is English. Papers presented at the conference by the authors
will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing
(A&I) databases.

Details for the submission and all information concerning the symposium can be found at the
symposium web site at http://www.inista.org/. Author notifications will be emailed by March 15,
2014, and the final manuscript is due April 10, 2014. Submission implies willingness to
register at the conference, pay the registration fee and present the paper in person. Papers
will be included in the proceedings only if at least one author will register and pay the
registration fee by April 10, 2014 (only IEEE member and non-member fees are acceptable to
this purpose) - no exceptions. Papers included in the proceedings will be submitted for
inclusion into IEEE Xplore only if the paper will be presented in person at the conference
by one of the authors. If an author covers more than one paper with her/his registration
to guarantee inclusion in the proceedings, she/he must pay a 50 US$ surcharge for each paper
in excess of one.

Special Session Proposals: January 10, 2014

x. MESAS'14 Call for Paper

Inter-domain and Multi-disciplinary exchange of Knowledge within Modelling and Simulation and Robotics communities of interest

MESAS'14 is a two-day workshop organized by the NATO Modelling and Simulation Centre of Excellence. The event will gather together, in Plenary Sessions and Round Tables, fully recognized experts from different domains: Military, Academia and Industry. The aim of MESAS'14 is to scout the possibility to use the Modelling and Simulation to integrate Systems with Autonomous Capabilities to support Coalition Interoperablity.

x. Post-doc position on vision for walking humanoids

In the context of the EU funded project Koroibot (www.koroibot.eu), the iCub Facility Department at the Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is looking for a Postdoctoral fellow in the field of sensor fusion for scene interpretation and navigation in walking humanoids. Tasks will be focused on the development of the visual perception system for a humanoid robot to support visually guided walking. Foreseen activities mainly fall in the scope of computer vision but will also significantly leverage on the multimodal sensors currently available on the iCub humanoid: vision, whole-body distributed accelerometers, gyroscopes, tactile sensors, force and torque sensors. Goal of the project is to give the iCub humanoid robot (www.icub.org) the visual competencies required to interpret and walk in the environment, tracking and avoiding obstacles. Possible scenarios are: 1) gaze and keep fixation on objects of interest during walking 2) walk to reach a visually identified o!
bject by avoiding obstacles 3) identify the type of terrain and obstacles on the floor and plan actions accordingly.

Candidate should have a strong background in Computer Vision and Robotics. The candidate should also have a background in computer programming fluent in C++ and be motivated to perform experiments on a real robot.

The working language will be English. The position is available immediately and will be funded by the FP7 EU grant Koroibot ICT 2013.10 Cognitive Systems and Robotics (GA 611909). The duration of the contract is two years. An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered. Interested applicants should submit a CV and a list of publications. Please send your application to the following email address: jobpost.koroibot@icub.iit.it possibly with 2 reference letters.

The official call is available here: http://www.iit.it/en/openings/research-departments/icub-facility-opening...

In order to comply with the Italian law (art. 23 of Privacy Law of the Italian Legislative Decree n. 196/03), we have to kindly ask the candidate to give his/her consent to allow IIT to process his/her personal data.
